Ensemble Liaison

BEETHOVEN - Trio in B flat major, op 11, BARTÓK - Six Romanian Folk Dances for Cello & Piano, GERSHWIN - Three Preludes for Clarinet & Piano, BRAHMS - Trio in A minor, op 114.

Three internationally acclaimed musicians, David Griffiths, Svetlana Bogosavljevic and Timothy Young, formed Ensemble Liaison in 2006 with an outstanding debut concert for ABC Classic FM which featured in “The best of Sunday Live 2006” and then evolved into a collective vision for a permanent ensemble combining the beauty of clarinet, cello and piano.

Last year’s performances were variously hailed by critics as: spellbinding, moving, joyous, polished, stunningly blended, engaging, powerful and having boundless lyricism.

Paul Lewis is one of the most sought after artists of his generation, appearing regularly at the world’s major musical venues and festivals. Some of his recent accolades include: 2008 Gramophone Record of the Year & Instrumental Recording of the Year; 2006 25th Premio Internazionale Accademia Musicale Chigiana; 2004 & 2005 Edison Instrumentalist Award (Holland); 2003 Royal Philharmonic Society Instrumentalist of the Year; and 2003 South Bank Show Classical Music Award.

Pavel Haas Quartet

HAYDN - String Quartet in D minor, op 76 no 2, STANHOPE - String Quartet no 2, DVORÁK - String Quartet no 13 in G major, op 106.

In Spring 2005 the Pavel Haas Quartet won the Paolo Borciani competition in Italy, and were launched onto the international stage. Since then the Quartet has performed at the world’s most prestigious concert halls, receiving great acclaim from audiences and critics alike. In 2007 the Quartet were awarded a Gramophone Award for their debut CD of works by Janacek and Haas and were named Newcomer of the Year in the 2007 BBC Music Magazine Awards.
